ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Residents of a home in Canandaigua where a blaze lit up the garage overnight Sunday have been deemed safe, according to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire was reported at the West Ridge Run home around 2 a.m. Fire Chief Chris Brown said later Sunday that only the garage was impacted. The rest of the home was untouched.

A family dog that was initially unaccounted for was later found. According to the Chief, the dog was able to safely get out without help. Everyone else got out before the fire department’s arrival.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
