ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Officials with Rochester Regional Health addressed respiratory viruses Wednesday, as we head into the flu and RSV season.

Doctors say young children, older adults, and those with underlying health issues are at higher risk when it comes to contracting RSV.

“From an RSV and influenza standpoint, we still have fairly little activity of those infections, but we do anticipate them increasing over the next several weeks,” said Dr. Robert Mayo, RRH CMO. “That provides an important window of opportunity right now for people to get their vaccinations so that they are prepared for the inevitable wave of exposure that will be coming in the forthcoming weeks.”

Health officials urge the public to get vaccinated against the flu at RRH, your primary care provider, or your local pharmacy.
