Canaseraga man arrested after reported robbery & assault in Dansville

DANSVILLE, N.Y. ( WETM ) – A Canaseraga man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported robbery and assault in the Town of Dansville in September of 2024.

As reported by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Robert E. Freeman, 27, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 2, after his alleged role in the incident.

Police say that Freeman allegedly stole property from someone in a forceful manner, intentionally injured another person, illegally possessed and used a weapon, and did so with two other people.

As a result, Freeman was charged with the following:

• Assault in the first degree (class B felony)
• Gang assault in the second degree (class C felony)
• Robbery in the first degree (class B felony)
• Criminal use of a firearm in the first degree (class B felony)
• Grand larceny in the fourth degree (class E felony)
• Conspiracy in the third degree (class E felony)

Freeman had his charges read to him in CAP court and was taken to the Steuben County Jail without posting bail or a property bond.
