    Body pulled from Erie Canal in Murray, death not considered suspicious

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A body discovered floating in the Erie Canal in the Town of Murray was retrieved Sunday afternoon, announced Chief Deputy Jeffrey Gifaldi of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.

    According to the sheriff’s office, the body was found around Bennetts Corners Road just before 1 p.m. and removed from the canal. Deputies said the death is not being considered suspicious at this time. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine a cause of death.
