ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – It’s been a busy Tuesday across WNY with lake effect showers and thunderstorms keeping us wet at times. Waterspouts have been a thing, and likely will continue to be a prospect for the next 36 hours as colder air pours over the relatively warm waters of Lake Ontario.

We’ve got more of the same on Wednesday with highs staying in the 50s. A slight wind shift will rid our skies of clouds and rain chances Thursday, but it’s still cool with starting temperatures around 40° and afternoon highs in the middle 50s.

Expanding high pressure will mean sunshine both Thursday and Friday. There should be a big jump in temperatures here with Friday afternoon getting into the middle 60s. A cold front will approach from the north on Saturday, but there are some questions as to when it will arrive. If it’s early, there will be a few rain showers for both weekend days. If it’s late, showers focus Saturday night. Regardless, a separate system will sweep through in its wake and bring rain showers Sunday into Monday of next week.
