    Spencerport boys volleyball wins five-set thriller over McQuaid

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — In a battle of two of the top boys volleyball teams in Section V, Spencerport won the final two sets to beat McQuaid in five.

    Spencerport entered the matchup with a 9-1 record while the host Knights were 8-3.

    In the first set, the Rangers had a 22-17 lead before McQuaid had a late push to win the set 26-24. The second and third sets were just as close, with Spencerport taking the second 25-23 and McQuaid winning the third 25-23.

    The fourth set finally saw a team win by more than two points, as the Rangers won 25-17 to force a decisive fifth set.

    Spencerport started the set strong and had an 8-5 lead, but McQuaid rallied to pull in front 14-12. With their backs against the wall, the Rangers turned to their top player Brody Jackson to lead them to victory. He had two kills and an ace in the closing stretch to give his team a 17-15 victory.

    Jackson led the Rangers with 22 kills and five aces. Connor Galloway had 16 while Nathan Long had 11. Dominic Kesseler had 58 assists in the match. Mason Endres had a team-high 15 digs.

    Spencerport (10-1) has now won their last ten matches after dropping their season-opener to Fairport. They will host Churchville-Chili on Thursday, October 10th. McQuaid (8-4) will host Rush-Henrietta on Wednesday, October 9th.
