ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The recent warmer weather has provided great opportunities for enjoying some weekend activities. Businesses throughout Monroe County told News 8 its days like Sunday that bring everyone out.

“You can’t beat this, as long as the sun is shining. You just can’t beat it,” Wickham Farms Co-Owner Dale Wickham said.

Stop One: Wickham Farms. With a pumpkin patch, fresh donuts, a corn maze, it was almost too much to showcase.

Dale Wickham told me seeing all the families fill the farm makes it all the better.

“We talk all the time about traditions and making memories. It’s the moments you’re outside and there’s just so much to do and so much to see,” Wickham said. “It’s really special to see friends and families enjoying the day together here.”

Some even coming from out of town.

“I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio,” Sophia Bellina told News 8. “Me and my roommates we go to RIT and none of us have ever been, and we were like ‘Okay, let’s go!’ and so far, it has been the most fun day of my life.”

And some youngsters narrowing down their favorite activity.

“In a little bit we’re going to go feed the goats, so I love when I feed the goats,” one girl said.

But just down the way at stop two, one family business’ is up and running in its twentieth year. Family-run Dark Matter Scream Works operates on Dewey Avenue in Rochester.

With a Factory of Fear and Shadowvale Sanitarium. Co-operators Matt and Joe say this setup is the best they’ve had in years.

“We start building in late spring, early summer, and we work seven days a week the entire summer to get this together,” Matt Naber told News 8. “There’s a big crew of us that come in in detail and paint and spray webs. It’s quite the production.”

Matt and Joe Naber add with nearly 40 actors roaming the Haunted House Halls, they’ve had an awesome outcoming.

“Our numbers are doing great. We just want more people to come out and experience all the awesome work we put into this,” Matt said.
