ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office hosted an open house at its A-Zone substation Saturday. It allowed the public to get an up-close look at the equipment used by deputies and meet team members.

Dogs and horses made an appearance too, as the open house featured members from the K9 unit and mounted patrol.

The SWAT team also had its armored personnel carriers on display, alongside other teams featuring various tools and equipment used by the department. Ultimately, the goal was to give people in the general community the opportunity to interact with deputies in a community-oriented setting.

“Bring the community in and let them see, you know, our workspace, some of the equipment we have – we have some – our new mobile command post is here today which is something we like to show off,” said Capt. Kevin Schoepfel. “Some of the ways we’re, you know, expanding our toolbox to help resolve incidents throughout the county, you know, with other agencies and with our own deputies as well.”

The sheriff department’s A-Zone substation is located at 955 Panorama Trail S. in Rochester.
