‘Mamma Mia’ at Chenango Forks High School

CHENANGO FORKS, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Here we go again! A beloved feel-good musical is coming to Chenango Forks High School this weekend.

The Chenango Forks Upstagers are presenting Mamma Mia.

The classic tale follows Sophie as she sets out to find out who her father is. Unbeknownst to her mother, Donna, Sophie invites all of the possible fathers to her wedding in Greece.

The story is told through the music of Swedish band ABBA, known for their hit songs such as ‘Dancing Queen’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.

Gabrielle Backman plays Rosie, one Donna’s best friends and a member of Donna and the Dynamos.

Backman says the show is full of classic hits that everybody will recognize.

“We had some people in the audience who were watching it during our early dress rehearsals, singing along, dancing along, and that kind of gets the energy up on stage. Backstage ensemble was singing. The harmonies are great. We all enjoy the songs, we all know the songs, and we know the people that come. It’s like a concert but with action,” said Backman.

Backman says the cast has really embodied each of their characters are they are so excited to present the show.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and at 3 on Sunday.
