Animal Adventure asking the public for assistance in collecting data during solar eclipse

HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The solar eclipse is just days away and Animal Adventure Park to looking to the public for assistance in studying animal behavior.

Animal Adventure is hosting its solar eclipse viewing party on April 8. As part of the event, it is looking to find out how the celestial event affects the animal residents. The park is asking those in attendance to help them collect data by watching and recording the behavior of the animals throughout the eclipse.

“Seeing how the animals will react to this remarkable change in their usual environment and
routines, will be interesting to observe. Just how exactly it will impact certain species, is a great
question,” said Jordan Patch, owner of Animal Adventure. “As guests watch the eclipse, our animal care team, and volunteers from the public, will be closely observing our animal residents, gathering data to note any differences in their usual behavior during this celestial event.”

The park is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the solar eclipse beginning at 2. Regular admission rates apply.

Additionally, the first 1,000 guests will be provided with free AAS-approved and ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses.
