Regatta Row art exhibit returns for 10th year

BAINBRIDGE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A unique annual art exhibit is returning to Main Street in Bainbridge this weekend.

The Jericho Arts Council will be debuting this year’s Regatta Row Bainbridge Art Trail on Saturday.

20 Adirondack-style chairs hand-painted by local artists will line the street during the Street Art and Music Fest. There will also be 36 oars painted by students from the Bainbridge and Greene school districts.

The art pieces will be on display from April 27 to May 24. They will then be auctioned off at the General Clinton Canoe Regatta during Memorial Day Weekend.

Chairperson Rachel Hares says the event’s goal is to make art accessible to everyone.

She says this year’s submissions were some of the best yet.

“This year has been an amazing crop of artists. We were thrilled with the amount of applications we received and the talent this year, I personally think it’s one of the best year’s we’ve had. The details on these chairs are absolutely gorgeous,” said Hares.

Hares says the exhibit is a great way to celebrate the history of the Regatta in Bainbridge.
Saturday’s event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

Online bidding also begins Saturday.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit the arts council as well as the artists who participated in this year’s exhibit.
