TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The highest performing high school seniors in the subjects of math and science, were honored at SUNY Broome yesterday with a new piece of hardware to wear during graduation.

The Frank G. Paul Medal of Excellence is given to the top scoring male and female students in both math and science from local high schools.

The students were given a medal, a cash award, certificate of excellence, and for those planning to attend SUNY Broome, a scholarship for the STEM program.

Frank and Lillian Paul’s daughter, Rebecca Komorowski has attended the ceremony for the last 20 plus years, and tells the students to wear their medals proudly.

Daughter of Francis and Lillian Paul Rebecca Komorowski says, “When you receive your medal today, you hold it in a dear spot, please. Hold on to it and wear it for your graduation, and be proud because you too, you all, in math and science the two I’m thinking of, have done excellent.”

Those who receive the STEM scholarship may also be eligible for a transfer scholarship, once they graduate and head to a four-year college.

Komorowski tells the students that her father has a similar scholarship opportunity at Cornell University, for anyone looking to attend Cornell.
