BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies teamed up with The Broome-Tioga Workforce to connect job seekers with employment opportunities.

The Grand Slam Job Fair was held on Wednesday around the concourse at Mirabito Stadium.
The fair brought in over 40 businesses, each with their own table, who shared information on job openings.

The industries represented include green energy, nursing, manufacturing, and more.

Job Seekers were able to talk face to face with representatives from each business to find the right fit.

Business Service Unit Member for Broome-Tioga Workforce David Goguen shared that whoever brought their resume to the job fair was given a free ticket to Thursday’s Rumble Ponies game.

“It’s important to give people time to speak with businesses that are hiring face to face, because a lot of people like to apply on indeed and then they don’t hear back from anybody, and this way it cuts the middleman out and they get to talk to someone face to face. And sometimes that’s all you need, the difference between getting a job and not getting a job,” said Goguen. m

The Broome-Tioga workforce helps people write resumes, search for jobs, and connects them with resources to get the training and qualifications that they need.

Broome-Tioga Workforce will hold a job search and recruitment workshop on August 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at their 501 Reynolds Road location.
