BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The ninth annual Binghamton Porchfest is just a week away and News 34 is giving you a look at what you can expect from the West Side’s favorite festival.

    What is Porchfest?

Held on the last Sunday of every August, Porchfest will take place on August 25 from 12 to 7 p.m. It is a collaborative event between community members and local musicians that offers free music of all genres to the public.

Like the many other Porchfests operating independently throughout the country, Binghamton Porchfest is modeled after a DIY community festival hosted by the residents of Ithaca since 2007.

    Who will be performing?

140 performers will be scattered across 63 porches, stoops, and yards. Performances are staggered throughout the day. Guests will be able to enjoy fan-favorite artists such as Wild Card ft. Alyssa Crosby, Allie Torto, Cavier and Grits, and Long Way Home all while finding some of their new favorite bands. Organizers say there is something for everyone from rock and pop punk to folk and jazz plus so much more.

    What else can I expect?

New this year is the Porchfest Kids Village held at Recreation Park. There, guests can find several free activities for the West Side’s youngest residents including crafts, inflatable playhouses, educational sessions, and more.

There will also be 14 food and beverage trucks in attendance, ranging from a variety of eats. Click here to see the full list of options.

Free parking for festivalgoers is available at end of Lourdes Road in the back hospital parking lot. Parking is also available along the festival streets on a first come first serve basis.

There is also a free shuttle service to help attendees with travel. BC Transit is running free, accessible shuttle service from the Lourdes parking lot to points on Leroy Street and around the festival perimeter from 11:30am to 7:30pm. There will also be complimentary golf cart shuttles courtesy of Empire Golf Carts.

Additionally, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and bicycles.
