SUNY Delhi welcomes largest class in history

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – SUNY Delhi is enrolling a record number of students for the 2024 Fall semester.

Beginning August 19, Delhi will welcome over 1,400 new students for orientation week. The incoming class is the largest in the college’s 111-year history, beating the previous record set in 2017.

The students were chosen from a pool of nearly 9,000 applicants.

“We are thrilled to continue our strong enrollment trend this fall with this new record-breaking class of students,” said SUNY Delhi President Mary Bonderoff. “SUNY Delhi occupies a unique niche in the higher education landscape with hands-on learning and in-demand degrees. Many of our students have career aspirations that link directly to the needs of New York State. Our academic programs are meeting their expectations with an outstanding education that sets them up for success. Going forward, we will continue to work hard to invest in cutting-edge programs and exceptional opportunities for our students.”

Over 1,100 of the undergraduate students are residential and commuting students, while 240 are enrolled in online programs. Additionally, 60 students are pursuing graduate degrees.

The most popular majors at Delhi this year are nursing, veterinary science technology, electrical construction, and biology.

Returning students will move in the weekend before classes begin August 28, bringing the total number of students at Delhi to over 3,000.
