Two Delaware County inmates facing felony assault charges

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Two inmates are facing felony charges after a fight broke out at the Delaware County Jail earlier this month.

On Monday, Sheriff Craig Dumond announced the arrest of two inmates on assault charges.

On August 1, investigators with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint from the jail about a fight that occurred between the two inmates resulting in one of the two parties receiving injuries during the incident.

Information provided to the Sheriff’s Office at the time stated that the fight took place within a housing unit inside of the jail. Investigators say the inmates engaged in a verbal argument before the physical altercation.

The investigation concluded on August 9. As a result, investigators arrested 22-year-old Dakota Munn and charged him with Assault in the Second Degree within a Correctional Facility, a Class D Felony, in violation of NYS Penal Law. Additionally, they also arrested 31-year-old Timothy Reiche was charged with one count Attempted Assault in the Second Degree within a Correctional Facility, a Class E Felony, in violation of NYS Penal Law.

Mann and Reiche were both arraigned at the Delaware Centralized Arraignment Center before being remanded back to the custody of the jail on other unrelated charges.
