    Auburn driver tries to escape arrest, found with open alcohol and drugs

    AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, two Auburn Police officers were patrolling the area of Wall Street and Washington Street when they saw a car speeding, and then illegally pass another car while running a stop sign.

    “Officers Gray and Gehm attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Wall Street. The officers caught up to the vehicle as it quickly pulled into the front yard of 21 Derby Ave,” said Auburn Police.

    Christopher Clack, the driver of the vehicle was detained. Inside the car police found an open bottle of alcohol and some cocaine on Clack.

    While the officers were working to put him in the back of the police car, he escaped. They caught Clack and took him back into custody.

    His vehicle was then searched, and towed from the scene.

    Police say Clack was taken to Auburn Police Department’s Headquarters where both a drug and a DWI test were administered. He denied a breath test, but drugs were found on him. He had 1.2 grams of cocaine and five oxycodone pills.

    The drugs were found wrapped in over $400, and 5.5 grams of cocaine was found in his car.

    Clack was charged with:

    • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 4th Degree, C Felony
    • Attempt Escape 2nd Degree, A Misdemeanor
    • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th Degree, A Misdemeanor
    • Two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Unclassified Misdemeanor
    • Reckless Driving, Unclassified Misdemeanor
    • Speed in Zone, Infraction
    • Improper Passing, Infraction
    • Fail to Stop at Stop Sign, Infraction
    • Open Container Alcohol, Infraction
