BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Binghamton City Schools capped off its new teacher orientation week by introducing the new faces to some local eateries around town.

Last week, the dozens of new Binghamton City School District teachers went through orientation, and were rewarded with lunch, from three local food trucks outside of MacArthur Elementary.

Including Downtown Danny’s Hotdog stand, Happy Pappi Arepas Bar, and R& B Soul Food.

Throughout orientation, the new teachers connected with veteran faculty, to learn what Binghamton is all about.

One new P.E. teacher, Elizabeth Kuzel is also heading up the district’s aquatics program and says she’s ready to become a part of the Binghamton family.

“We had lots of wonderful seminars, getting us ready, getting to meet the other new teachers and already form kind of a community of new teachers. A lot of the veteran teachers have said that Binghamton is a family, and I already feel that and I’m definitely excited to start,” says Kuzel.

The staff got to try out each food truck and mingle with their colleagues ahead of classes starting up on September 5th.

Binghamton’s Alumni Association was also on-site selling Patriot swag.

6th grade family orientation will take place at East Middle School this Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m.
