BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Residents of the South Side of Binghamton may see an interruption in their water service on Thursday due to necessary repairs.

The City of Binghamton’s Department of Water and Sewer announced that it will be removing and replacing gate valves across the South Side on Thursday. As a result, the water supply may be interrupted from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and residents may notice water discoloration during this time.

Affected streets include Woodland Avenue, Indiana Street, Pratt Court, Upper Vine Street, Kane Avenue, and Spurr Avenue.

During the repairs, limited use of water is recommended. The City says it is not responsible for any damage caused by water usage during the scheduled time.

The Water Department will flush all transmission lines after the work is completed. Some water discoloration or cloudiness may still appear.

Residents are urged to check their cold-water supply before using any water in their home. It may be necessary to run your cold water only to clear your service line of air and fine particles.
