Drug bust in Binghamton leads to four arrests

BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) — Four individuals have been charged with criminal drug possession after the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force found meth, cocaine and other paraphernalia in two Binghamton apartments on Friday, August 30.

Police executed a search warrant last Friday at 100 Louisa Street Apartment 3 and Apartment 4 in Binghamton due to suspicion of drug dealing. Between both apartments, police say 32.3 grams of meth, over 8.8 grams of cocaine, over $2,000 in suspected drug money, cutting, weighing and packaging tools, and a switchblade knife were found.

As a result, four individuals were arrested and charged.

John Sharak III, 67, of Binghamton:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (2 counts)
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (1 count)
• Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (3 counts)

Brian Schmitt, 50, of Binghamton:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (1 count)
• Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (3 counts)
• Schmitt was also wanted by NYS Community Supervision and the Binghamton Police Department

Kathryn Andrew, 41, of Binghamton:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (2 count)
• Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (3 counts)

Elmer Parker Jr, 51, of Binghamton:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (1 count)
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (1 count)
• Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (2 counts)
