DELHI, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Some students at SUNY Delhi are living in unique housing accommodations, after arriving on campus for the new semester, to find out their dorm rooms had been taken.

A handful of returning Delhi students are currently living with six guys to a room in a dorm lounge.

The university says the students applied for housing last minute, and when they arrived to campus a few weeks ago, their dorm rooms were already filled.

To accommodate the students, the school has set-up a dorm lounge with a divider, and six beds on either side.

One student says it’s been hard to keep his belongings organized, since the room doesn’t have any closets, plus, limited desk and drawer space.

Delhi says the situation is only temporary.

One student says they are still paying the full price for room and board, but with a fraction of the benefits.

A representative from the school says the students received a $600 refund and will get another $600 during week 8 of this semester.
