Vestal field hockey looks to three-peat

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Golden Bears have gone back to back, bringing home the state championship in girl’s field hockey for the past two seasons. After graduating many players from their starting lineup, they are now looking to do it again.

They picked up right where they left last season. Freshman Helene Ryan opens her account after beating two defenders and slapping home the bouncer, giving the Bears the 1-0 lead.

The Olympians would answer, however, with the ensuing corner. It leads to a shot from deep, taking a deflection off the stick of Helena Parker that finds the back of the net, tying the game.

Then it was all Vestal, they’d make it 2 off the back of Elsa Hartman after a corner of their own, and the Bears would pile it on and win, 7-1.
