Norwich wins big in Kickoff Classic

HAMILTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Many teams had their opening football games on Friday. Two teams that didn’t were Norwich and Cortland, as they waited a day to battle it out at Colgate University in the 2nd Annual Chenango County Kickoff Classic.

The Purple Tornado would drop 29 points in the 1st quarter alone. Early on, the Purple Tornado was already up 7 in the first and looking for more. Nobody open downfield so a QB keeper for Steven Dowdell. He makes 5 defenders miss as he’s able to get the edge and scramble in for 6.

Not too long after, Cortland trying to move the ball but a big hit would jar it loose, and Norwich, right back on offense.

A few possessions later, Norwich again. Blown coverage and an acrobatic catch by Tiernan Lindsay would keep the dominance going for the boys in purple.

Steven Dowdall finished with 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing. Braden Hagenbuch, Mitchell Collins, and Tiernan Lindsay each had a rushing and receiving touchdown apiece in the blowout, where the final score was 56-0.
