BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Endicott man was sentenced to prison on Thursday for the possession of a firearm.

Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Elijah Gibson, 23, was sentenced to five years in State prison, followed by three years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

On December 30, 2023, Gibson possessed a loaded and operable 9mm firearm in the Village of Endicott.

“This 5-year prison sentence should send a clear message: the Broome County District Attorney’s Office has zero tolerance for illegal firearm possession. Ensuring public safety is our top priority, and we are committed to holding accountable those who endanger the safety of our community. Our office remains committed to aggressively prosecuting individuals who possess illegal firearms and will continue to take a firm stance against such criminal activity. I commend the Village of Endicott Police Department for their swift response and arrest in this case,” said Battisti.
