BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A group of upstate freethinkers gave $1,000 to an organization that connects with people living in rural communities.

The Upstate New York Freethinkers, a chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, gave a $1,000 donation to the Rural Health Network of South Central New York.

Each chapter is given an annual grant to be awarded to a local organization.

The Freethinkers were established earlier this year, and advocate for the separation of religion and government, and educating the public on non-theism.

The Rural Health Network works to increase access to health care for rural communities and addresses social determinants of health, including removing transportation barriers.
