(WIVT/WBGH) – Airports in Broome and Chenango Counties are receiving federal funding to improve their infrastructure as well as their daily operations.

On Tuesday, Congressman Marc Molinaro announced over that over $5 million will go to the Greater Binghamton Airport, Tri-Cities Airport, and Lt. Warren E, Eaton Airport.

“I’m excited to announce these significant investments in our airports across Upstate New York. This funding will support important infrastructure advancements to ensure our local airports remain competitive and provide comfort for travelers,” said Molinaro.

The Greater Binghamton Airport will receive $4,937,777. The money will be used to reconstruct 51,000 square feet of existing terminal building, upgrade the security screening area, hold room area, baggage claim area, restrooms, HVAC, roadway canopy, and sidewalks, and replace two passenger boarding bridges. The project will also reconstruct existing edge lighting on a taxiway, rehabilitate 6,720 feet of the existing paved taxiway, and rebuild 46 existing airfield signs.

The Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott will receive $117,249. The funds will aid in reconstructing runway end identifier lights system for existing runways.

The Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich will receive $161,527 to remove on and off airport trees from the runway to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.

The funds are available through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grant Program and the Airport Improvement Grant Program.

Molinaro also granted a total of $5,106,292 to the Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, Columbia County Airport, and the Albert S Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta
