Southern Tier SWAT Team conducting training session in Harpursville

HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is notifying Harpursville residents of a routine Southern Tier SWAT training exercise going on in their community on Wednesday.

The SWAT training exercises will take place on Lovejoy Road between State Route 7 and Hickox Road from 2 to 10 p.m.

Residents of Harpursville and surrounding communities are advised that the law enforcement activity is for training purposes only and there is no real threat to the public.

There will also be several drones in the sky as the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Team will be training as well. The UAV Team will only track the training exercise at predetermined locations and will not intrude on residents’ privacy.
