BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra is using the healing power of nature to wow audience members as they open their 2024-2025 season.

The Philharmonic is hosting Restless Oceans on September 28 at the Broome County Forum Theatre.

The concert takes its name from the first piece titled “Restless Oceans” by Anglo-American composer Anna Clyne, which is said to connect the sounds of the natural world with the resilience of the human spirit. Also on the program are works by Richard Strauss, Alex Shuhan, and Beethoven.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. There will be a pre-concert chat at 6:30 from the Philharmonic’s Director of Education and Community Engagement Dr. Julia Grella O’Connell. During the first chat of the season, O’Connell will discuss the ways that Beethoven uses sound to communicate specific visual information to his listeners.

Tickets are between $28 to $69. Children aged 17 and under can attend for free.
