ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One of the most iconic businesses in Greater Binghamton has been awarded for its commitment to serving the community each and every fall.

The Cider Mill received the New York State Empire Award on Wednesday. Presented by Senator Lea Webb, the Cider Mill was honored for being a major economic driver in the community.

The business has been producing pressed cider for nearly 100 years along with tasty treats such as donuts and candy apples. It is also home to the Cider Mill Stage and a farmers’ market.

Assistant Manager Brent Natzle has been with the business for 15 years. He says the continuous support from the community helps make the Cider Mill what it is.

“We’re all about the community and for the community to give back and still come here and to receive an award, it’s amazing. It’s amazing because not a lot of awards are given and in a time like now with the economy the way it is, businesses are failing but we’re not,” said Natzle.

The Empire Award is the highest honor bestowed by the State Senate on businesses that have made significant contributions to their communities.

Natzle says this is the first award ever won by the Cider Mill.

It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2 Nanticoke Avenue in Endicott.
