VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Golden Bears welcomed M-E to town for a soccer showdown tonight, where both teams were looking to improve on their winning season. Both teams coming off shutout wins, it was shaping up to be a good one.

It would be a very back-and-forth game, with both teams throwing punches and counterpunches.

The Spartans were looking to snag a win at Dick Hoover Stadium away from the Golden Bears.
M-E would start hot. The ball gets played into Landon Stenta, who hits it on the volley but skies it.
Then Spartans again. Stenta is able to make his way through the defense and fire, but it goes just wide.
Then pressure would come in the other direction. A great through ball gets played into the box first time and Massimo DiRenzo pings it just high.
Then Vestal would find one. The ball pops out and immediately gets whipped back in straight to the foot of Nathan Klym who slots it home.

However, it would be a big second half from Maine-Endwell that would help them bring home the win. 2nd half goals from Luke Nunn followed by Matthew Rombold would get the Spartans the win, 2-1.
