Carrie-On honoring memory of Apalachin woman for 7th year

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Carrie-On Breast Cancer Foundation is raising money to continue its mission of honoring the former Apalachin woman who inspired its inception.

The 7th Annual Carrie-On Breast Cancer Fundraiser will be held on October 5 at the Vestal Elks Lodge #2508. There will be food, raffles, music, and more. The event is open to the public.

All proceeds will be donated to Triple Negative Breast Cancer patients who are undergoing treatment as well as high school students who are pursuing a career in nursing. The patients will receive a donation of $1,000 just before the holidays and the students will receive a $500 scholarship at the end of the school year.

The Carrie-On Breast Cancer Foundation was created after the 2017 passing of Carrie Crowningshield. Crowningshield was known for her strength and kindness which she showed in both her career as a nurse and in her personal life.

The event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m.
