Six vehicle crash occurs on State Route 17

TOWN OF UNION, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A multiple car crash caused a portion of State Route 17 to close on Wednesday.

At approximately 4:53 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell responded to State Route 17 just east of Exit 68 in the Town of Union for a crash involving several vehicles.

An investigation was conducted at the scene, and it was determined that one vehicle was traveling west bound when the driver crashed into the guide rail.

Four other vehicles, in both the right and left lanes, stopped or slowed down after the incident. According to police, a sixth vehicle came from behind and went in between the four stopped vehicles, sideswiping each of them.

No injuries were reported.

A detour was put in place and the road was reopened to traffic shortly after 6 p.m.
