Vestal Town Board holding special meeting

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Town Board announced on Wednesday that it will soon be holding a special meeting.

The Vestal Town Board will hold a public hearing on October 2 to discuss the proposed dissolution of the existing fire district. Dissolution is required for the formation of the new Vestal Fire District which will encompass all of the territory of the existing district.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Vestal Town Hall at 605 Vestal Parkway West.

For the long and short of those who are confused, the new fire district will now be able to have fire commissioners who are seperate from the town board and individually appointed with experience in running a fire district. It won't impact fire services or access to 911 services for the town and will be a net benefit for everyone. This way the town board won't be wearing two hats. This is how it's done pretty much everywhere else.
