BLAST kicks of new season with A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Cider Mill Stage and BLAST are beginning their 2024-2025 season with a hilarious tale of greed and romance.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder by Binghamton University alum Steven Lutvak is opening this weekend.

The comedic murder-mystery follows a poor man named Monty Navarro who, after the death of his mother, learns that he is actually an aristocrat and eighth in line for earldom. On a quest to become the ninth Earl of Highhurst, Monty does whatever it takes to earn the title while attempting to win the hearts of the two women that he’s in love with.

Chris VanDerwerker plays the role of Monty. He says the show is so fun to watch but equally as fun to perform.

“With Covid the past couple of years and everything that’s going on in the world it’s always so crazy. So, it’s nice to be able to go to a theatre and escape that for a couple of hours and laugh. Personally, I love art that makes me think and cry, but I also love going to the theatre just to laugh my pants off and this is absolutely one of those shows,” said VanDerwerker.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder will run this weekend and next. Show times are at 7:30 p.m.
