ENDICOTT, NY (WIVT/WBGH) — The Endicott Police Department has shed more light on a stabbing that occurred near Union-Endicott High School on Thursday afternoon.

On Sept. 26, EPD officers began an investigation into a reported stabbing at U-E HS that resulted in two minors being taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed the stabbing did not take place on school grounds, police say.

EPD states the stabbing occurred off of school grounds and after school hours near the Gulf gas station and the American Legion adjacent to the campus. The confusion as to where the incident happened came when one of the victims went to the main entrance of the high school for help.

As of this reporting, EPD is unsure of the weapon that was used to stab the two victims. One had a wound to the hand, and the other sustained wounds on the lip and shoulder. Both were confirmed to be minors, but EPD did not comment on if they were U-E students.

No arrests have been made at this time. Out of caution, Union-Endicott Central School District requested extra patrols around the school area from EPD and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office at morning arrivals and throughout the day.

EPD encourages anyone with information to call 607-785-3341.

Endicott Police Department was open 247 some years ago. An Endicott lawyer 25 years ago told me they should close the EPD and let the sheriff take over. They need to be open for the public. Rebuilding Washington Ave is putting lipstick on a pig with what's moved into the village since IBM left.
