BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Broome County Jury found a Town of Chenango man guilty of drug crimes on Tuesday.

Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Andre Gilliam, 45, was found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.

On November 7, 2023, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit executed a narcotics
search warrant at 174 ½ Castle Creek Road in the Town of Chenango. As a result of the search, investigators located over an eighth ounce of fentanyl, cutting agent, a digital scale and nearly $4,000 hidden in Gilliam’s bedroom.

“Once again, this guilty verdict sends a clear message that our community will not tolerate
drug-related offenses. Our office remains committed to ensuring public safety and addressing
the devastating impact of substance use. We hope this serves as a warning to others that
such actions will have serious consequences,” said Battisti.

At sentencing, Gilliam faces up to 8 years in New York State prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision.
