BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The Rumble Ponies brought their mascots, Rowdy and Ruby to the health department, to remind the public that its flu shot season.

The Broome County Health Department is promoting flu immunizations through a video collaboration with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older receive a flu shot every year.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says he’s getting his shot next week, before it can disrupt his holiday plans.

“As we start to get into the Winter, we’re going to have some really great celebrations coming up right? Tons of things to do in the Fall. Thanksgiving is coming up, Christmas is coming up, the holidays are coming up and there’s nothing worse than getting sick on any of those days,” says Garnar.

The health department says the easiest way to get your immunizations is through your primary care provider.

If you don’t have insurance, contact the health department at (607)778-3930.
