KIRKWOOD, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – With less than 30 days until the election, several local labor unions endorsed their candidate for Congress.

This morning, union leaders from across New York’s 19th Congressional District gathered at IBEW Local 325, to announce their support of Republican Marc Molinaro for Congress.

The union leaders represent thousands of working people across the 19th district.

Molinaro says in total, he has been endorsed by 35 different unions.

“And these men and women represent those that are working hard and I’m glad to have their support, I’m thankful for it. We’re going to continue to fight for the people they represent and the folks who go to work every day. Building the stuff we need, providing the services we rely on, and getting us to the places that we need to get to,” says Molinaro.

Molinaro says far too often, large capital projects are bringing in out-of-state labor to do the construction, because they are cheaper and have lower standards.

He says if elected, he will fight to give those jobs to New Yorkers.
Molinaro will face Democrat Josh Riley in an election rematch next month.
