Named Rancho Colus, this housing complex, composed of 49 units, signifies much more than just new structures – it embodies the spirit of sustainable progress. Its mission is to offer a permanent housing solution, providing options for working adults and their families in Colusa County.

With all the essential elements in place, major construction is primed to commence immediately, with an anticipated move-in window of November or December 2024. The location, strategically situated on 1717 Highway 20 in Colusa, ensures both accessibility and integration within the community fabric.

Rancho Colus caters thoughtfully to a spectrum of needs, presenting a diverse range of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.

"The county, like the rest of California, is significantly lacking in affordable housing, and this development provides local community members with the opportunity to get back on their feet, and also receive the supportive services they need," Colusa County Supervisor and Chair Kent Boes said in a statement. This innovative dimension underscores the inherent connection between affordable housing and the potential for enhanced community engagement.

The inception of the Rancho Colus project traces back to the visionary decisions of the Colusa County Board of Supervisors in 2021. By embracing funding from the No Place Like Home program, a program tailored for permanent supportive housing, the county affirms its dedication to uplifting vulnerable segments of the population. This investment underscores the profound impact of providing stable, secure housing for those in need.

The Rancho Colus development captures the essence of Colusa County's proactive stance toward a complex challenge. It signifies more than just construction activity; it encapsulates a commitment to enhancing the overall quality of life for community members. By offering a blend of permanent affordable housing, the project aspires to uplift individuals and families, paving the way for a stronger, more resilient Colusa.

Way to go Colusa! The economic impact of affordable low housing will have a positive effect on our entire community. When financially challenged families spend less on housing they have more to spend on goods and services. These transactions fuel community-wide economic growth by boasting local businesses.
