Arch Manning to appear in ‘College Football 25’ after initial opt-out
Arch Manning changed his mind on whether his likeness would appear in "EA Sports College Football 25." The Texas quarterback and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning was originally the highest-profile college football player who did not agree to let his likeness be used in the hotly anticipated revival of the video game series, due out later this month. Reports in March said Arch Manning opted out of the potential NIL deal because he wanted to focus on football. All of that was rendered moot Tuesday, when he posted a video with Uncle Eli to social media. The elder Manning pretends to call plays to Arch, who is wearing practice pads but playing the video game. On3 reported that EA Sports paid Arch Manning between $50,000 and $60,000 to promote the game. All players featured in "College Football 25" will receive $600 and a free copy of the game. Manning enters the 2024 season as Texas' backup quarterback behind incumbent Quinn Ewers. --Field Level Media
Former player, Panthers exec Adrian Wilson charged with assault
Adrian Wilson, who was recently dismissed from his position as vice president of player personnel with the Carolina Panthers, was arrested on three domestic violence charges last month, a police spokesperson said Tuesday. The Scottsdale (Ariz.) Police Department said Wilson faces misdemeanor charges of intentional assault causing physical injury, damaging property between $250 and $2,000 and disorderly conduct (disruptive behavior or fighting). Wilson, 44, was arrested at his home just after 6 a.m. on June 1, the spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday. Wilson is a 13-year NFL veteran who played safety for the Arizona Cardinals and spent 2013 with New England, though he was on injured reserve and missed the season. Arizona inducted the five-time Pro Bowl selection and 2009 first-team All-Pro into the Cardinals Ring of Honor in 2015. After working as a scout for the Cardinals and being promoted to vice president of pro scouting in 2021, Wilson joined the Panthers' front office last year. Carolina confirmed on Sunday that Wilson was no longer employed by the organization. The Panthers did not have further comment Tuesday when asked if they had known about Wilson's arrest. --Field Level Media
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott says right ankle is fine
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said there's "absolutely nothing" wrong with his right ankle. Prescott answered questions Tuesday after being spotted in a walking boot while on vacation in Mexico last week. "Honestly, I'm getting older. It's the same ankle that I snapped, and I had a nasty surgery on four years ago so a couple of hard days of training and you know, you get a little sore and you're going on a fishing trip, and you want to protect it and make sure things don't get worse," he told ESPN at his Dallas-area youth football camp. "Literally, it's...

Jaguars DE Josh Allen changes last name to honor family
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Allen announced Tuesday he wants to be called Joshua Hines-Allen. "I am deciding to change my last name," Allen said in an 82-second video posted to X. "You know, I've always been a Hines, and legacy is forever. Family is important to me because when you come from a rich history of athletic people in your family, and myself being the youngest one, to go to all my sister's games, to know what my uncles did in college and in the NBA, it just means something a little bit more." The switch is a tribute...

Jerry Hughes re-signed with the Houston Texans on Monday, setting him up for a 15th season in the NFL. A Houston-area native, Hughes spent the past two seasons with the Texans. The defensive end turns 36 in August. Hughes played all 17 regular-season games in each of his two campaigns with Houston but started just two games in 2023. He had three sacks, one forced fumble and 32 tackles last season after a nine-sack campaign in 2022. Former 6-foot-11 hoops prospect to play OT at Georgia
Jahzare Jackson was part of one of the top junior basketball leagues in the country, but on Monday, he committed to one of college football's premier programs. Jackson, who stands 6-foot-11, will play offensive tackle at recent two-time national champion Georgia. Jackson played in Overtime Elite, the league founded in 2021 for 16- to 20-year-old basketball prospects to have an alternative path to the NBA. He even entered the NBA draft that took place just last month. When it was clear he'd go undrafted, Jackson evaluated his options. He had played football up until his early high school years, at...
Steelers CB Cameron Sutton suspended 8 games
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton was suspended without pay for the first eight games of the season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, the league announced Monday. Sutton, 29, signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in early June after being released by the Detroit Lions on March 21, one day after authorities in Florida announced they were looking for him following allegations of aggravated battery-domestic violence. That matter was resolved after he entered a pretrial diversion program, allowing Sutton to meet with the Steelers in April. The NFL subsequently completed their own investigation of the incident, resulting in Monday's suspension ruling. Sutton will be available to return on October 29, following the team's Week 8 matchup with the New York Giants. Sutton started all 17 regular-season games with the Lions, posting 65 tackles, an interception, one forced fumble and six passes defensed. He started Detroit's three playoff games as well, adding eight tackles and breaking up three passes. When the suspension ends, Sutton will rejoin the team that selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. --Field Level Media

Report: Panthers, player personnel VP Adrian Wilson split
The Carolina Panthers and Adrian Wilson, the vice president of player personnel, have parted ways after just one season, Pro Football Talk reported Sunday. "Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers," the team confirmed to the outlet. "Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment." The Panthers hired Wilson, a North Carolina native, in February 2023. He went to the organization from the front office of the Arizona Cardinals, where he spent eight seasons. He rose to VP of pro personnel in 2021-22 and was named co-interim general manager late in the 2022 season. Wilson, 44, played 12 seasons with the Cardinals (2001-12) and the safety was a first-team All-Pro in 2009. The five-time Pro Bowl selection is a member of the team's Ring of Honor. --Field Level Media
