Report: Panthers, player personnel VP Adrian Wilson split
The Carolina Panthers and Adrian Wilson, the vice president of player personnel, have parted ways after just one season, Pro Football Talk reported Sunday. "Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers," the team confirmed to the outlet. "Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment." The Panthers hired Wilson, a North Carolina native, in February 2023. He went to the organization from the front office of the Arizona Cardinals, where he spent eight seasons. He rose to VP of pro personnel in 2021-22 and was named co-interim general manager late in the 2022 season. Wilson, 44, played 12 seasons with the Cardinals (2001-12) and the safety was a first-team All-Pro in 2009. The five-time Pro Bowl selection is a member of the team's Ring of Honor. --Field Level Media
4-star OL Seuseu "SJ" Alofaituli commits to Miami
Four-star interior offensive lineman Seuseu "SJ" Alofaituli committed to Miami's Class of 2025 on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound player chose the Hurricanes over finalists Michigan and Nebraska. He took official visits to all three schools last month. Alofaituli is ranked as the No. 3 interior lineman and the No. 77 player overall by the 247Sports composite. He is entering his senior season at powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. "To be honest, it was just the culture and the people over there, the people that fill the facility," Alofaituli said as he made his announcement via the 247Sports YouTube channel. "I'd say it's just something special they've got going on there with coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach (Alex) Mirabal. Them two together was definitely something special, with coach Cristobal being an ex-O-lineman. I thought it was something truly special." With Alofaituli's commitment, Miami moved to No. 8 in 2025 team recruiting rankings, jumping over Clemson to top the Atlantic Coast Conference. --Field Level Media
Three-star LB LaVar Arrington II commits to Penn State
Following in the footsteps of his All-American father, three-star outside linebacker LaVar Arrington II is heading to Penn State after announcing his commitment on Thursday. Arrington II, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound two-way player, chose his father's alma mater over Tennessee and UCLA. He's ranked as the No. 38 athlete in the Class of 2025 by the 247Sports composite. A native of Covina, Calif., the younger Arrington compiled 12 sacks and 65 tackles in 2023 as a junior at Charter Oak High School. Foundation grants $12,000 to city, county teachers
The Loudon County Education Foundation has announced the 12 recipients of the 2024-2025 school year Great Idea! Grants. The nonprofit organization gave away $12,000 to support more than 3,205 students. According to a press release sent out by LCEF Executive Director Michele Lewis, The Great Idea!
