This August will see the return of Shreveport's Comic Convention, Geek'd Con, and this year comes a guest that the 11-year-old gamer in me can't wait to meet. If you remember the heyday of the original Xbox console or the Xbox 360 you most definitely will recognize the green armor-clad space soldier Master Chief, from the video game franchise Halo. Well, this August Geek'd Con welcomes Steve Downes, the legendary voice behind the character and in preparation I'm planning to sit down and play through each of the best Halo games, but that begs the question, which Halo games should you play before August.

The Shreveport Police Department will conduct a Multi-Agency DWI Checkpoint starting on June 28, 2024, at 10:00 PM and ending on June 29, 2024, at 3:00 AM in West Shreveport. Shooting Near a Shreveport Night Club Injures Two
At 1:30am Monday (6/24/24) Shreveport Police were called out to reports of a shooting near a Highland night club. The shooting took place in the 2000 Block of Marshall Street in Shreveport near Ant's Urban Lounge. Police say two people suffered injuries as a result of the shooting. The injured male and female were taken to a local hospital and treated for their gunshot wounds.

T-Mobile Gives $50k Grant to Ruston Community Project
Just an hour down the road from us here in Shreveport big things are coming to the community of Ruston. Back in 2021 Artist, Louisiana Tech Professor, and Skateboarder Joey Slaughter (yes, his real name is that cool) started the Skatepark of Ruston project. The goal was to raise enough money to work with the city to renovate the long-dilapidated community pool into a spot for skaters to shred. Back in February of 2023 they met their fundraising goal of $250,000 and then in December began the first steps of building this college town's concrete playground.
