From Sunshine to Showers: Killeen's Weather Takes a Dramatic Turn for October's End

    2023-10-22

After a warm and dry weekend in Killeen, a change in the weather is on the horizon for the end of October. Patricia Sanchez, a National Weather Service meteorologist, has some insights to share:

Sunday will maintain high temperatures in the low 90s but with the arrival of slight cloud cover due to impending storms.

Monday morning holds a 50% chance of rain, with a high of 82 and a low of 67, while rain chances taper off to 30% by evening.

Tuesday's forecast includes a 40% chance of rain, a high of 81 degrees, and a low of 67.

While the rain should offer some relief from the ongoing drought, it might not be substantial, according to Sanchez.

The peak rain chances continue from Wednesday into Thursday morning at 50%, with a predicted high of 83 for Wednesday and 84 for Thursday.

Sanchez anticipates a cold front arriving at the end of the week, bringing Killeen's temperatures back into the 70s, and this cool spell is expected to last longer than previous instances.

In terms of rainfall, the forecast for the coming week suggests approximately 1 inch of rain, which should help Texas approach its typical October average of 3 inches. So far this month, Texas has received only around 1.5 inches of rainfall, and temperatures have been 10 to 15 degrees higher than in previous years.
