A 17-year-old boy faces charges of murder after police say he intentionally shot and killed his friend inside of a car on the valley’s east side early Monday. The names of the suspect and victim have not yet been released.

Man who struck, killed 2 NSP troopers enters DUI plea
A guilty plea was made on Tuesday by a man who struck and killed two NSP officers last November. Jamarcus Williams could receive as much as 20 years in prison for each of the two counts of DUI Resulting in Death when sentenced in June.

CCSD substitute teacher arrested for fighting with student
A substitute teacher as well as student were arrested on Thursday at Valley High School after getting into a fistfight in the hallway. The teacher, identified as 27-year-old Rekwon Smith, was taken to CCDC, and bail was set at $9,000.
Man enters guilty plea for murder of 2-year-old in 2021
A 31-year-old man entered a guilty plea Thursday for the murder of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son nearly 3 years ago. Terrell Rhodes admitted to police that he killed Amari Nicholson in May of 2021, beating the child for urinating on himself.
Gaming win statewide saw small drop in March
Casinos have been on a definite roll in Nevada, but March numbers released Thursday by the state’s Gaming Control Board saw a bit of a backslide for that month. The casino win in March was down 3.8% from February and down 1.65% from March of 2023.
