Patriots defeat Howell, 1-0, to win second straight Shore Conference Tournament crown
NEPTUNE — The redemption tour for the Freehold Township High School girls soccer team added its first major highlight of the 2022 season on Oct. 22 in Neptune. For the second straight season and the third time in program history, the Patriots were crowned Shore Conference Tournament champions as they defeated their Shore Conference A North Division rival Howell High School, 1-0, in the championship match.

The Manalapan Police Department has reported the following incidents which recently occurred in the community:. On Sept. 28 at 11:46 a.m., a South Brunswick resident reported providing $116,000 for a vehicle investment plan that appears to have been fraudulent. Patrolman Jeffrey Emslie handled the report and the incident is pending further investigation.

A Middletown resident has been indicted for laundering money on behalf of the Cape Town Zone of Black Axe, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Andrew Suarez, 29, is charged by indictment with money laundering conspiracy, substantive money laundering counts and aggravated identity theft, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Yearlings of New Jersey sires lead sales at Kentucky auction
Yearlings from New Jersey sire Walner led individual sales at the recent Lexington Selected Yearling Sale in Kentucky. Walner led all stallions in gross sales at almost $7 million with 60 of his offspring sold. Two other New Jersey sires were among the gross sales leaders with Muscle Hill’s 38 offspring going for just over $4.7 million and Tactical Landing’s 54 offspring going for more than $3.5 million, according to an Oct. 11 press release from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.
Freehold Township officials add small lot to open space inventory
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The members of the Township Committee in Freehold Township will purchase and preserve a small open space parcel on Siloam Road. Siloam Road (Route 527) begins at Monmouth Road (Route 537) at the border of Freehold Township, Manalapan and Millstone Township and eventually becomes Cedar Swamp Road in Jackson.

The Manalapan Police Department reported the following incidents which recently occurred in the community:. On Sept. 21 at 1:14 p.m., a Manalapan resident reported that at 12:15 p.m., an unknown individual stole a 2022 four-door Mercedes-Benz vehicle valued at approximately $139,000 from the parking lot of a business at 357 Route 9, Manalapan. The key fob is believed to have been left inside the vehicle. Patrolman Hunter Mauro took the report.
Monmouth County Park System sponsors Thompson Park Day on Oct. 16
Thompson Park Day – a celebration of the season – will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at Thompson Park, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Free activities for the day include children’s races, entertainment, mini golf, pie-eating contests (1 p.m. for children and 1:20 p.m. for adults) and more, according to a press release from the Monmouth County Park System.
