HARPERS FERRY, WV - According to information from Cryptid Wiki, the legendary creature known as Snarly Yowl has been reported in the mountains near Harpers Ferry, possibly dating back to the early 1700s when German settlers arrived in the upper Potomac Valley.

The creature's name, derived from Germanic words describing a wail from a toothy mouth, evokes fear and fascination.

According to Cryptid Wiki, sightings of the dog-like beast have been numerous and varied. Some claim to have shot Snarly Yowl, while a motorist near Boonsboro, Maryland, reported running over it, only to see the creature stand and rage defiantly in his rearview mirror.

Others allege the beast can stand on its hind legs, appear out of thin air, change size, and disappear instantly.

Legends say Snarly Yowl lurks along old main roads into towns, challenging travelers.

It is most often encountered in the Blue Ridge and South Mountain areas of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, continuing to mystify and terrify locals, according to Cryptid Wiki.
