BENTONVILLE, AR - According to information on Wikipedia, located on Highway 59 between Sulphur Springs and Gravette, Arkansas, the Old Spanish Treasure Cave has been a popular tourist attraction since 1908.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours, treasure panning, and fossil hunting at this unique karst cave formation, which continues to intrigue geologists.

Unlike most tour caves, the Old Spanish Treasure Cave is a maze cavern with numerous passageways leading to various rooms and tunnels.

Legends of hidden gold and silver, often attributed to Hernando de Soto’s search for gold, add to its allure, according to Wikipedia.

One legend tells of Don Carlos Lavilla, a Spaniard prospecting for gold in the early 1700s, who discovered the cave following a bear’s tracks.

Lavilla’s heirs later hid bullion worth $3 million (about $102 million today) in the cave.

Though treasure hunters have explored the cave for over a century, the elusive bullion remains unfound, according to Wikipedia.

Explore the mystique and history of the Old Spanish Treasure Cave, where adventure awaits.
