SANDUSKY, OH - According to a press release issued by the Ohio Lottery on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, a lucky Ohio Lottery player in Sandusky recently struck gold, winning $10,000 from the Billion scratch-off ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at The Kroger Co. #858 on E Perkins Ave.

The winner and her husband were off work when they decided to try their luck.

According to the press release, while she took a nap with their baby, her husband ran errands, including cashing in a few lottery tickets and picking up groceries.

He bought six new tickets during his run, and the very first one they scratched revealed the $10,000 prize.

After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings, the couple will take home approximately $7,200. The winner shared that they plan to use the money to pay off their hot tub.

The couple’s luck didn’t stop there—they played the same game again a week later in Columbus and won an additional $500.

Billion is a $50 scratch-off game with a top prize of $1 million a year for 20 years. As of August 12, three top prizes remain.

The Ohio Lottery, which has contributed over $32 billion to education since 1974, offers a wide range of scratch-off games. For more information, visit the Ohio Lottery’s website, according to the press release.
