The Least Used Amtrak Station in New York as of 2023

    2024-08-24

SYRACUSE, NY - In the fiscal year 2023, Amtrak saw impressive ridership numbers across New York State, reflecting the important role the railway plays in the region's transportation network.

According to Amtrak, operating over 103 trains daily, Amtrak serves a wide range of cities in New York through various long-distance, state-supported, and Northeast Corridor routes.

According to Amtrak, Moynihan Train Hall at New York Penn Station remains the busiest hub, with over 10.2 million passengers passing through its doors, making it the most frequented station in the state.

Other high-traffic stations include Albany-Rensselaer, with nearly 791,000 riders, and Hudson, with 245,600 riders.

However, not all stations saw such high usage.

The Fort Edward-Glens Falls station recorded the lowest ridership in the state, with just 7,588 passengers. This marks it as the least utilized Amtrak station in New York, a stark contrast to the bustling terminals in larger cities, according to Amtrak.

Overall, Amtrak’s New York ridership totaled an impressive 12.4 million passengers, underscoring the significance of rail travel in the state’s transportation infrastructure.

As Amtrak continues to expand and improve its services, it remains a critical link for millions of travelers across New York.
