Power Bill Assistance Available for West Virginia Residents

MARTINSBURG, WV - West Virginia’s Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) provides vital support for households struggling with heating costs during the winter.

According to the West Virginia Bureau for Family Assistance, administered by the Department of Human Services (DoHS), LIEAP helps eligible residents by offering direct cash payments or payments made to utility companies on their behalf.

The program also includes a crisis component for households at risk of losing their heating source due to lack of resources.

Eligibility for LIEAP is determined by a combination of factors, including household income, the type of heating payment, and the total cost of heating, according to the West Virginia Bureau for Family Assistance.

The program operates for a limited time each winter, with outreach and application services available through the Community Action Network and regional Agency on Aging offices, according to the West Virginia Bureau for Family Assistance.

Residents interested in applying for LIEAP can contact their local DoHS office or apply online via the West Virginia PATH website.

This program ensures that West Virginians facing financial hardship can stay warm during the coldest months of the year.
